Progress on climate adaptation lacking – Commission

Analysis: Insufficient progress has been made on adapting to the impacts of climate change, the Climate Change Commission has warned in a new report that offers nine recommendations for improving the country’s resilience.
The national adaptation plan, released under Labour in 2022, does not contain enough specific outcomes and has not been implemented as planned, the commission found. A new select committee inquiry into a climate adaptation law is an important step, according to the report, but New Zealand is running out of time to begin its adaptation journey.
